The New Hampshire premiere of “Weep with Those Who Weep: a Requiem” will be presented at the Congregational Church in Mason on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 3:30 p.m.

The Batraxoi ensemble will perform this new composition for soloists, chorus and orchestra with music by Robert Griffin and words by Lotta Suter.

The work will be conducted by Mark Latham, director of the N.H. Youth Symphony. The soprano solos will be sung by Maria Ferrante and the baritone solo will be sung by Donald Wilkinson.

“Weep with Those Who Weep” represents a multifaceted response to our mortality: We grieve for the natural deaths of those we love — and also for the many shameful deaths that we humans ourselves bring about so that lives are ended before their time. Yet the music and the words above all express and celebrate the connectedness and humanity we share when we weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice.

Admission is free. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter.
