Nutrition, physical changes associated with aging, long term care solutions and other timely topics will be part of the discussion at Vital Signs: Wisdom for Your Life Choices.
The event, sponsored by the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, will be held Nov. 4 at the Peterborough Town House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Morning sessions include yoga, physical changes you can expect as you age, and a cooking demonstration featuring simple, healthful cooking tips. Afternoon sessions look at more physical aspects of aging, long term care solutions, and changes in Medicare.
The morning begins with Staying Active with Yoga, presented by a practitioner from Heywood Healthcareโs LIFE Wellness Center in Gardner, Massachusetts.
Dr. Michael C. Lindberg, chief medical officer at Monadnock Community Hospital, will address Aging: What you can expect. This talk will focus on causes of frailty, screening approaches and on prevention and management of the diagnosis.
Next, nutrition takes center stage as Executive Chefs David Soha, Courville at Carlyle Place and Dennis Hickey, Courville share tips on healthy, simple cooking at 11 a.m.
The last session of the morning will be Julie Thibault, owner of Jellisonโs Funeral Home, and Rob Talon from Talon Financial Services, who will address planning for the future.
The afternoon session begins with a discussion of bladder control problems: Laugh, cough and sneeze, worry free! with Janet Chamberlin, a clinical specialist in womenโs health and physical therapy at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene.
At 2 p.m., Joy Peterson of Silverstone Living and Bruce W. Adams Jr., from Bankers Life and Casualty Co. will speak on long term care solutions, followed by presenter Michelle Lowe, who will give an overview on Medicare changes.
