Junior forward Carly Canavan scored twice on Sunday afternoon to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team, which snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 4-0, non-conference victory over Molloy at Cedar Creek Park. Along the way, sophomore midfielder Sarah Bjorn scored her first collegiate goal and sophomore forward Ashley Silva picked up her first career point with an assist.
With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 3-7, while first-year program Molloy falls to 1-6. Franklin Pierce dominated play throughout the afternoon, chalking up advantages of 32-3 in shot attempts, 20-3 in shots on goal and 16-2 in penalty corners.
The Ravens return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Stonehill. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass.
