GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALLConVal falls toLaconia, Milford

The Cougars volleyball team traveled to Laconia on Saturday to play at the Laconia homecoming. The Cougars won the first set 25-23, before losing the 2nd and 3rd sets 25-19, and 25-15. The Cougars then fought to take the win in set 4 to push to the if-necessary game 5. The Cougars had previously never made it to a set 5.

The set went fast and the Cougars were defeated 15-8 as they struggled to handle the serving from #9 of Laconia.

The offense was lead by Riley Codman with 5 blocks, kills and tips, and Abby Cail with 3 blocks, kills and tips. The defense was led by great passing from Aidan Dissinger and Mary Grossi.

Earlier in the week, Conval lost a tough game to Milford 3 sets to 1 set. The Cougars fell to the Spartans 25 – 21, and then 25 – 17 before winning the 3rd set 25 – 12 behind the serving of Jaylyn Desrosiers, who had 4 aces on the night. The 4th set unfortunately didn’t go the Cougars way as they lost 25 – 14.

Defensively the team was lead by senior Gwen Jones with 9 successful serve receives and 9 digs. Mary Grossi added 12 serve receives and 10 digs.

ConVal (2-4) hosts John Stark (6-1) Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.
