In a display of cooperation and partnership, the Peterborough Select Board is hosting the four members of Peterborough’s ConVal School Board delegation at its weekly meeting.

Select Board Chair Ed Juengst announced at last week’s meeting that the school board reps would be a part of the Tuesday, Sept. 27, meeting.

“I think it’s important that the select board and the school board do communicate once in a while,” Juengst, also the select board liaison to the school district and works with its strategic planning committee, said.

While the board sometimes meets with the ConVal superintendent, which will happen the following week on Oct. 4, Juengst said it is rare for it to meet with members of the school board.

Dick Dunning, one of Peterborough’s representatives to ConVal, said the purpose of the meeting is to “see what we can do to support each other in whatever endeavors we’re both involved in.”

According to Juengst, the goals of the meeting are to promote communication and see how they can serve Peterborough better.

He also hopes to discuss the town’s recent petition to leave the district and clear up why the board supported it.

“I hope we could tell them why we did support it, and we’ll take questions,” he said. “Our goal is to keep the district together, and hopefully lighten the tax burden without losing what’s best for the students.”

With Dunning, the other Peterborough representatives to the board are Thomas Kelly, Janine Lesser and Kristin Reilly. Peterborough has the most representation on the board, with the other nine seats being filled by eight towns.

The meeting is tonight, Sept. 27, at 5:30 p.m., in the Town Office’s Select Board Meeting Room.
