New paintings by Temple artist Rose Lowry are on display at the Out of the Blue Gallery in Cambridge, Massachusetts through the month of September.
According to Lowry, this series of equine paintings has allowed her to express splendor in play of light, composition of shapes, and the transience of visual perception.
“These paintings are the culmination of explorations that incorporate my love of paint strokes with the impact of realism,” says Lowry. “I have always been drawn to the soothing tones of a simple color palette, and I find great joy in working on a midtone background then darkening the shadows, pulling out the highlights, and moving the viewer through the scene through use of detail and contrast.”
The paintings also allow her a platform to voice her lifelong delight with equine form and motion.
