To the editor:
To the person who stole the “Hillary for President” lawn sign from in front of my house: I’m glad you liked the sign enough to want to take it. Perhaps you felt an urgency to put it in front of your own house. Don’t worry, there are plenty of lawn signs for everyone!
Perhaps this would be a good time to remember those famous words: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” That’s the spirit of democracy I was taught, and it’s the kind of value upon which our form of government relies. It doesn’t work as well when we attack each others’ freedoms.
Now I know why I rarely see lawn signs supporting Hillary. Freedom of speech is being trumped.
