Taking a million dollar idea and making it a reality is no easy feat. Sometimes it’s hard just to know where to start.

That’s where the Artist to Artist lecture series comes in.

Through a partnership with the MAxT Makerspace in Peterborough, the Hannah Grimes Center in Keene and Arts Alive! in Keene, the makerspace will host a series of lectures on various aspects of turning a great idea into a prospective business model, culminating in a workshop that will help prospective businessmen and women to create a one-page business plan. Of those that participate, up to three who submit a completed plan will win a year-long membership to the makerspace and Arts Alive! to help turn their plans into reality.

“There are a lot of artists and really creative people in our area, but turning that creativity into a business model that can sustain them is difficult – for anyone,” said Roy Schlieben, executive director at MAxT. “The speakers in this series are artists or entrepreneurs who have already gone through this experience.”

The first speaker in the series will be Wink Faulkner, speaking on “Developing your Product” on Sept. 15.

The series is designed to lead the attendees through different stages of the business plan process, said Schlieben, but attendees can drop in on any that might have interest to them.

Lisa Sieverts will be speaking on project management on Sept. 29, Amanda Nelson on intellectual property rights on Oct. 13, Mark Hatcher on networked marketing on Oct. 20, with the business plan development workshop to be scheduled for a date in November.

All lectures will be held at the MAxT Makerspace on 1 Jaffrey Road in Peterborough at 5 p.m. and will last 45 to 60 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer session and time to network with fellow entrepreneurs. The series will be free and open to the public.
