MAxT Makerspace’s Director Roy Schlieben joined about 200 other makerspace directors and organizers from around the country at a Nation of Makers event at the White House.

“It is exciting that this administration has recognized the potential makerspaces have as engines of innovation, learning, economic growth, and collaboration, even in a small town like Peterborough” said Schlieben.

“It was a tremendous honor to be part of this event and be able to connect and learn from so many other organizations that share MAxT Makerspaces’ goals. We all feel energized to keep growing and strengthening the maker movement.”

Organized by the White House Office of Science and Technology, the event was the first time that makerspaces from across the nation have ever come together to share experiences, resources and best practices. It included talks from makerspace organizers, presentations from government agencies about ways to engage the federal government on makerspace initiatives and workshops on common issues facing makerspaces..
