Wendy Keith and Her Alleged Band
Wendy Keith and Her Alleged Band

Wendy Keith and her Alleged Band will be the featured performers at the Parish Hall Open Stage on Friday, Sept. 2.

Folk troubadour and songwriter, Keith has performed in the New England music scene since the ‘70s and has played on stages from Harvard Square to the Folkway to the Colonial Theatre in Keene. She has opened for Mark Erelli, Jesse Colin Young, and the band America.

After years of playing with the local acoustic band Decatur Creek, Keith has combined her talents with musicians Doug Farrell, Jack Carlton and Walden Whitham of Tattoo and Folksoul. Her sound is an eclectic mixture of instrumentation including guitars, strong harmonious vocals, lap-steel guitar, dobro, bass, sax, clarinet, and penny whistle.

The evening begins with an open stage of local, regional and out-of-state musicians. Spoken word artists are also well received.

Any local or regional talent wishing to play on stage need only sign up by 7 p.m. Each artist customarily plays two or three songs before and after the feature. There will be hot beverages and baked good available to purchase.

House sound and a piano are provided.

Donation at the door is $5.

The open mic is held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the parish hall of the Unitarian Universalist Church.

The first three to contact Jack Kid at jackkidmusic@gmail.com will be guaranteed slots. All others must sign up in person.
