To the editor:
This writer has known District 11 State Representative Susan Emerson for 25 years. She listens to each person who comes to her with a problem and keeps working on it until it is resolved, even though her drive and persistence has occasionally irritated some of her colleagues.
She has spent her life working for the public good. When her husband, Air Force General Gerald Parker, was deputy surgeon general in Washington, D.C., she served for six years on the District of Columbia Commission at the request of Mayor Marion Berry. She also served on boards for Washington Hospital, D.C. Hospital Association,Visiting Nurse for Maryland, D.C., and Virginia and the National Board of the American Hospital Association.
When her husband retired, they moved to Rindge. She ran for the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 1999. She was appointed to the Health and Human Services Committee and continues to serve there as the senior ranking Republican. During her years in the State House she has served on the Oral Health, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Primary Care Work Force, Mental Health, Implementation, Regulation and Control of Synthetic Drugs, Study of General Court Policies and Procedures related to Persons with Disabilities, Health Care in Correctional Facilities, Medical Payments for Hospital-Based Physicians and Outpatient Services, Automated External Defibrillator Advisory Commission, Study on the Elimination of Cervical Cancer, Aging, and Oversight of the Health and Human Services committees.
In order to be close to her constituents Susan is a member of Rotary, Jaffrey and Rindge Woman’s Clubs, the Rindge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce, Sons of the Union Army Auxiliary, American Legion, Rindge Historical Society, and the Rindge Budget Committee. Her energy and enthusiasm in everything she does is phenomenal.
Vote for Susan Emerson on Sept.13. If you are a Republican or undeclared, ask for a Republican ballot. If you are a Democrat, write in her name on your ballot.
