The ConVal boys’ soccer team got a win in their first game of the season by winning a tense playoff rematch at John Stark on Friday, 1-0. The Cougars snagged the lead early, on a cross from Micah Black to Jordan Cooper. From there, ConVal had to hold on for the rest of the first half and all of the second. Thanks to stellar goalkeeping from Noah Bell, excellent defense from Manny Bowman and a few shots off the crossbar, the Cougars pulled it out.
John Stark ended ConVal’s season last year in the playoffs after two overtimes and several rounds of penalty kicks. ConVal (1-0) travels to Milford (0-1) today at 4 p.m.
