It seems we’ve been reporting the entire summer about hot and steamy conditions at the Jack Murphy Thursday Night 5K fun runs, so why break tradition and change things now?
On what could arguably be considered the hottest day of the summer, the seventh installment of the Jack Murphy run began under oppressive conditions, yet 20 intrepid souls set out to brave the course and the conditions.
ConVal alum and Antrim resident Jesse Edwards led the charge, running 19 minutes, 13 seconds. Nels Traffie followed him in for second, followed by James Mormando and Conner Traffie.
Rounding out the top five was Mascenic junior ace Samantha Bilodeau, running 21 minutes, 53 seconds. Naomi Traffie followed in eighth overall, with Yolanda Flamino, and ConVal harriers Lucy Freeman and Sawyer Cawthern rounding out the top five for the women.
The Thursday night runs will continue two more weeks and conclude on Aug. 25.
