The duo Four Shillings Short will bring Celtic, folk, and world music to the Old Meeting House in Francestown on Friday, Aug. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
The duo, husband Aodh Og O’Tuama from Cork, Ireland, and his California wife Christy Martin, have been touring in Ireland and the U.S. since 1997.
These full-time minstrels, working out of their Dodge Caravan loaded with an ever-increasing array of musical instruments, will play everything from hammered dulcimer, mandolins, Renaissance woodwinds to North Indian sitar and a bowed psaltry — with banjo, guitar, recorders, tin whistles, and percussion for good measure.
They will peform a variety of musical styles from traditional Irish and Scottish airs, songs, and tunes to Indian ragas, Renaissance instrumentals, a cappella numbers, plus contemporary folk and original compositions.
The concert is sponsored by the Monadnock Center for History and Culture, Peterborough.
Tickets are $18 or $15 for Old Meeting House or Monadnock Center members, seniors and students.
