Andy’s Summer Playhouse will present the world premiere touring production of “Playing Bo Peep” with an opening performance at the playhouse on Friday, Aug. 5.
Written by Katy Day and directed by Sam Mauceri, the play explores the re-imagined world of Mother Goose, with its classic characters discovering what it takes to overcome the roles that have been given to them and create their own identities.
What happens when Mother Goose characters don’t want to follow their nursery rhymes anymore? In “Playing Bo Peep,” Little Bo Peep and Little Boy Blue test the limits of their destined pages and discover that their respective fates might actually lie in their paper hands. Watch them explore the confines of their book with questions like: What are we doing here? Why are these sheep baaing at us? And most importantly, why are bonnets really a trend? The answers might be harder to find than the sheep in this re-imagined world of Mother Goose. “Playing Bo Peep” is suitable for all ages.
General admission tickets for the Aug. 5 and Aug. 16 performances are $14 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at www.andyssummerplayhouse.org, at the box office or by calling 654-2613.
