To the editor:
Trump huh? His pedigree is clear. His family came, saw, cut down trees, bulldozed, drove people from their homes, destroyed neighborhoods, uprooted families, made millions and left the devastation behind. Think of his legacy in Atlantic City. Thousands out of work, buildings shuttered and Trump didnโt even shut off the lights; he claimed bankruptcy. He took the money and ran. With this โcandidate(?)โย we all must do our homework!ย Read something about him; anything. Even โhisโย ghost-written bookโs author warns us against him.
Being surrounded by yes men, the Donald has created an air of untouchability. Yet his platform is as vague as Winnipesaukee fog. Shouldnโt a candidateโs platform be one of clarity and vision versus blather, misogyny and bullying?
I get the attraction to his lack of political correctness. It goes hand in hand with his complete misunderstanding of complex issues. Sometimes a dumb person should be called dumb. I even get some of the affinity people have toward his โpromiseโ to build a wall. We want what we have and we donโt want to share it. Now that many of our โAmericanโย companies have moved their production lines to different countries (including Trumpโs clothes line, manufactured in third world countries) to save on labor and environmental expense, we may need the wall to be lower so that Americans can climb over it to get to a job.
The Donald (just capitalizing his name gives me the shivers) will do much for this country, but the only thing that will be greater will be his bank account with money that he steals from the average Joe. His legacy will be the complete dismantling of the EPA (clean air or water, who needs it?) the dismantling of employee rights and the utter destruction of all things beautiful about our nation.
Now thatโs a legacy I canโt abide.
