A Bennington man convicted on drug and firearm charges will serve a term in prison, according to police.

Rosaire Gauthier, 40, will spend 78 months in federal prison and an additional three years of supervision by a parole officer after issuing a guilty plea on October 9, 2015. His sentencing was completed Friday, July 29.

He was arrested after a search of his residence in August 2014.

According to a press release from the officer of the U.S. Attorneyโ€™s District of New Hampshire, he โ€œsold oxycodone and other controlled substances to a confidential informant on 15 occasions between April 2011 and February 2012.โ€

The 2014 search โ€œresulted in the seizure of drugs, three loaded handguns, a loaded shotgun, a loaded rifle that had an extended magazine attached, three ballistic vests and $18,190 in cash,โ€ according to the release.

Because he was already a convicted felon, he was not permitted to possess a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Manchester Police Department.

Seventy-eight months from his plea will be April 9, 2022 when he is likely to be released.
