A host of local golfers are in action this week at the NHGA State Amateur golf championships at Laconia Country Club.
In Wednesday’s match play action in the round of 64, Damon Salo beat Nicholas Barnes 3-2. Salo shot an even 144 to average par over the two-day stroke play qualifier.
James Kinnunen was elimnated 5-4 by Chris Houston, after shooting a 156 in stroke play.
Cameron Salo won 2 up over Daniel Arvanitis. Salo shot a 145 in stroke play.
Michael Martel lost to AJ Correia of host Laconia, who won 21 holes on his home course. Martel shot a 150 in stroke play.
Bryce Salo also lost to a Laconia golfer, Eric Foster, who won 1 up to advance. Salo shot a 151 in stroke play.
In the qualifying stroke play round, a Peterborough golfer competed but couldn’t make the cut for the round of 64.
Jake Hollander shot a 162, six back of the final qualifying spot.
The round of 32 begins Thursday morning, as Damon Salo tees off against Taylor Simpson at 7:24 a.m.
Cameron Salo will tee off against AJ Correia at 7:56 a.m.
Last year’s winner, Connor Greenleaf, takes on Roger Larrivee at 8:20 a.m.
The overall leader after stroke play, Ryan Tombs of Manchester, tees off at 7 a.m. against Matt Jensen.
