The Greenville Planning Board gave the OK to Fieldstone Land Consultants to break ground on a construction materials recycling facility during its meeting Thursday.

The facility, which is planned for Blanch Farm Road, off of Route 31, would operate from Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to facility plans, and would employ between two and six people.

The proposal includes a scale house weigh station with bathroom facilities and a larger building for the processing of materials like sheet rock.

The project was first brought before the Planning Board in October, and this week got final approvals of water and sewer plans from the Select Board, which acts as the town’s water and sewer commission.

After a final review of the plans and updates made to the water and sewer connections based on the Select Board’s consultant’s reccomendations, the Planning Board also gave its final blessing.

“I am ready to go,” said Tim Brown of JDC Demolition, when asked how soon the building process, expected to take about 18 months in total, would begin.

Planning Chair Ted deWinter commented that he is happy to see additional commercial investment in that area, which is zoned for commercial and industrial businesses.

“Historically, we have tried very hard to attract commercial business to Route 31,” said deWinter.

During Thursday’s meeting, the Planning Board also welcomed a new member, Patrick Reardon, who will be replacing Ed White, who resigned from the board.
