The Jaffrey Civic Center will host the Monadnock Area Artists Association July 2016 Members Show beginning July 1 – 30, 2016. A diverse group exhibition by members of the Monadnock Area Artists Association shows work in many different media including: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, cold wax, mixed media, and photography. The Monadnock Area Artists Association had its beginnings in 1958 when a group of artists displayed their work on Central Square in Keene, NH. Today, it is a volunteer-run association with members from the Monadnock region, Massachusetts, and Vermont with a strong commitment to cultivating art in the community. Activities center on generating interest and appreciation of art in our region. Programs include speakers, demonstrations, workshops, painting groups and are open to both members and the public.
The main event is Art in the Park, a two day outdoor art show in beautiful Ashuelot River Park, West Street, Keene, NH Saturday and Sunday, Labor Day Weekend in September, now in its 58th year. About 80 artists from all over New England come to exhibit and sell their work. About 80 artists from all over New England come to exhibit and sell their work. Other highlights include performances by local musicians.
Part of the proceeds from our many activities goes to the Scholarship Fund, awarded to a graduating senior from the region who plans to pursue art studies in a four year college. This is the Jaffrey Civic Center’s 50th Anniversary year. One of the celebrations planned is the “Night of 1000 Cupcakes” Thursday July 21 at 5:30pm. The July 2016 Members Show in the Cunningham Gallery on the second floor will be open during this event.
