The town of Rindge will purchase two locked security cabinets to ensure that town personnel files are secure.
The Board discussed security at the Town Office at its Wednesday meeting, specifically whether Select Board members should have access to the finance directorโs office and whether personnel files should be more secure.
โThe Board of Selectmen, as supervisors, should have access to that room,โ said Selectman Jim Qualey.
Qualey went to say: โI am also concerned about the personnel files. I think they could use a second layer of protection.โ
The board authorized Finance Director Ellen Smith to get two locked filing cabinets to secure paperwork in her office.
Locking the documents in a filing cabinet will ensure two layers of protection: locking the door to the office and locking the cabinets themselves.
The board agreed to take bids on one of the townโs retired police cruisers, as the town has received interest from one buyer.
The town will accept bids until June 28. The minimum bid is $500.
Charlie Eicher of the Town Administrator Search Committee, updated the board on the search process, saying that the committee has forwarded a list of names to the Select Board.
The committee is still taking applications for the position.
During citizenโs forum, resident David Drouin asked if the board would consider creating a new and old business section on the agenda.
Drouin also asked if the board would consider running meetings under Robertโs Rules of Order.
The board did not vote on either matter. Selectwoman Roberta Oeser said that old and new business is a good idea. Board chair Robert Hamilton Roberts Rules would require a parliamentarian to be present, as the rules are hundreds of pages in length.
