Today, Rindge Fire and state personnel will attempt to pull an overturned seaplane out Lake Monomonac.
Emergency personnel were called to Conifer Road last night after the seaplane attempted to land on Lake Monomonac and flipped over.
Chief Rick Donovan said Monday morning that he was waiting for Department of Environmental Services before attempting to pull the plane out of the water. Donovan said DES plans to use a crane, but he is unsure of how well that will work, due to the plane being far away from any shoreline.
“We towed the plane as close as we could to shore, but eventually it got hung up on some rocks,” said Donovan.
No one was seriously injured during the crash. The plane was being flown by its owner, Earl Robinson, 57, who also owns property on the lake. Robinson had a passenger, a 22-year-old male. The passenger was a member of the flight crew, according to the FAA website.
