Tim and Jessica Blais and their two young sons were wakened shortly before 4 a.m. (Wednesday) by their fire alarm. While all four and the family dog were able to escape safely, their home and all their possessions, including their two cars, went up in flames.
“It seemed like in minutes, everything was gone,” said Jessica Blais, standing on the front lawn of their New Ipswich home, with crews still on the scene. “It happened so fast.”
“Smoke detectors save lives, that’s all I can say,” said Deputy Fire Chief Gary Somero.
When crews arrived at 141 Ashburnham Road, the house was already fully involved. The three-alarm fire took 45 minutes to knock down and another hour and a half to extinguish completely.
An account has been set up for the couple at TD Bank under the name Tim and Jessica Blais. Pizza Haven II is a drop-off point for gift card donations for the family. Tax-deductable donations can be made to the Christian Outreach Church, earmarked for the Tim and Jessica Fund.
