Allrose Farm County Weddings will have to wait at least two more weeks to receive approval from the town of Greenfield.

Owner Michele Perron met with the Planning Board Monday in her second attempt to get her land approved to be used as a wedding venue. After much discussion, the board decided it wanted the opinion of Police Chief Brian Giammarino and continued the hearing until May 23.

โ€œI think that traffic safety is a valid concern, and we ought to get the opinion of the police chief,โ€ said Select Board representative Bob Marshall.

The board was concerned with traffic, due to the increased traffic flow near a potentially dangerous intersection: East Road and Forest Road. Chair Paul Renaud said he would contact the chief to ask him to send a letter to the board about the effects of increased traffic on the intersection.

This is Perronโ€™s second attempt at trying to use her venue for weddings, meeting with the Zoning Board in August last year.

The board at that time decided that a wedding venue wasnโ€™t a compatible use in the residential district the property is in.

Perron is approaching the board once again, because a warrant article was passed in March, creating a new ordinance specifically addressing special events.

If approved, Perron plans to be open May through October as a wedding venue.

Due to the zoning restrictions, Perron can only hold a maximum of 10 events per year with 75-125 guests, and 20 with 25-74 guests, which includes staff. Perron can hold unlimited events with under 25 people. No event is allowed to exceed 125, per the new ordinance.

Perron also said she will no longer operate a bed and breakfast out of the facility when she is cleared to operate a wedding venue.

Perron is working to get her barn up to code.
