The ConVal Rockhounds and the ConVal Tin Caps battled to a 9-9 tie in Cal Ripken Minors league play Tuesday night in Francestown.
Kaiden Bateman started for the Rockhounds and held the Tin Caps to two runs.. He helped his cause with a two-run homer in the top of the first.
Meric Grenier pitched two strong innings, striking out three. Ryan Tatro struck out two and Nolan Darowski struck out three. Darowski was relieved by Brady Carpentiere who had six strikeouts over three innings of shutout ball. Carpentiere drove in Zach Pease with the tying run with a triple in the top of the fifth. Daniel Patenaude also had a big hit during the Tin Caps rally. Aggressive base running by both sides and good defensive plays kept the game close.
