A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the Jaffrey Community Solar Project will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the capped municipal landfill at 110 Old Sharon Road in Jaffrey.
The 1.34-megawatt community solar array, built on formerly underutilized landfill property, features 2,266 U.S.-assembled panels designed to generate more than 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually. The system is expected to lower energy costs for low- and moderate-income households enrolled in New Hampshire’s Electric Assistance Program while offsetting approximately 933 tons of carbon emissions each year.
Speakers scheduled to attend include U.S. Rep. Maggie Goodlander; Jaffrey Town Manager Jon Frederick; Dan Weeks of ReVision Energy; Ian Simmons, founder of Blue Haven Solar; and Pam Slack, senior special assistant for constituent services for U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
