The Norway Pond Junior Minstrels will present a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “HMS Pinafore” at the Hancock Meeting House on Saturday, May 7, at 4 p.m.
The final concert at Music on Norway Pond this season will feature a zany performance of this operetta performed by 23 children, ages six to 14. With Mary Ann Fleming at the piano and Jody Hill Simpson directing, the Junior Mints will bring to life the timeless themes of social class conflict and forbidden love which resonate in any era.
One of the stars of the operetta will be the bow of the HMS Pinafore crafted by Vermont resident Stuart Stocker. At the end of the performance, this structure will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
The hall will open at 3:30 p.m. There is no charge for admission but door donations are strongly encouraged.
