The town of Greenfield is selling the 1985 fire truck that will soon be replaced with the recently purchased ladder truck.
The town is currently accepting bids for the old truck, taking bids at the Town Office until May 24.
That evening, the Select Board will open the bids and select one.
“We have to finish painting and lettering the new ladder truck before it technically is put into service,” said Fire Chief David Hall. “But other than that, the new truck is full of water and ready to go.”
Greenfield’s old truck is a 1985 Emergency-One Sentry IV FMI Hurricane fire engine, with a 750 gallon PolyTank, a 1,250 gallon per minute pump, and 42,00 miles on it.
The Select Board authorized Hall to purchase the ladder truck in November for $30,000. The 1993 ladder truck also carries 1,500 gallons of water.
In addition to painting the truck, Hall said there would be some training needed for his firefighters, as the ladder feature is new for the town.
