When it comes to the Banana Squad, the smaller the group, the tighter the bunch.
Conant High School’s Destination Team is heading to the global competition after a strong second place finish in the state competition.
For the team’s “Get a Clue” challenge, the Banana Squad had to create and act out a mystery set prior to 1990, with three suspects.
“We have to do a lot of on-stage costume switches, because SJ and I both play two characters,” said team member Anna Wentworth, who said the team’s costumes are reversible.
“We have less people to do each job, but we are a lot more tight-knit.”
The team, comprised of Wentworth, her older brother Alex, and SJ Barney, was inspired by the black and white mystery movies of the 1930s.
“We originally were going to have a ‘The War of the Worlds’ inspired skit, but after working on it four weeks, we hit a dead end,” said Barney. “We decided to keep the time period and move on with a detective mystery.”
The Banana Squad and the other two Jaffrey-Rindge teams are collectively raising $28,000 for the trip to globals.
You can contribute by sending a check to JRDI at 82 Fitzgerald Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
The team is currently selling tulip and daffodil bulbs and raffle tickets.
