The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team was victorious, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon over Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce.

With the win, Franklin Pierce finishes its 2015-16 campaign at 6-15 (3-7 Northeast-10).

The Ravens swept through three doubles matches to open the day with a 3-0 lead, taking each of the three by identical, 8-3, scores. At first doubles, freshmen Marcus Lawrence and Andrew Schadt defeated Saint Michael’s juniors Ben Lambert and Hayden Steward. At second doubles, freshman James Bisazza and sophomore Olivier Viel notched a win over senior Sam Laves and freshman Dan Foley. At third doubles, senior Drew Bennett of Rindge and freshman Dan Longtin took care of senior Charlie Merry and junior Forrest Owen.

Franklin Pierce also took wins in five of the six singles matches to complete the 8-1 victory. At first singles, Bisazza rolled past Lambert, 6-2, 6-2. At second singles, Lawrence slipped past freshman Adam Lockwood, 6-4, 6-5. At third singles, Schadt edged Laves, 6-4, 7-6 (8). At fourth singles, Bennett downed Steward, 6-4, 6-0. At fifth singles, Viel needed a tiebreak third set, put defeated junior Patrick Dietz, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.
