Mystery of the 5-inch stalagmite-like icicle solved!

To the editor:

In a recent edition, staff writer Benji Rosen reported on my mystery of “a 5-inch stalagmite-like icicle” in the middle of my “microwaveable dish-turned-bird[bath].” When Mike Haddad, chief meteorologist for WMUR, spoke at the Friday Senior Lunch at the Peterborough Community Center I asked him if he could tell me what it was and how it happened. At the time, he didn’t know but said he’d find out for me. He did! It was an “ice spike”!

Wikipedia defines it as “an ice formation, often in the shape of an inverted icicle, that projects upward.”

I just wanted to let your readers know the answer to the mystery and that Mike Haddad quickly followed through on solving my mystery!
