Get your wellwater tested

To the editor:

The Rindge Conservation Commission was pleased with the turnout for our information meeting last Saturday on the importance of private well water testing. We announced our commitment to entirely fund the $15 arsenic testing in active Rindge wells and $30 additional funding for anymore extensive tests that individuals might select through the N.H. State Lab.

In order to coordinate the sample collection and delivery process, we need to have advanced indication of the numbers and specific tests desired. Those folks in attendance at the informational meeting, gained insight into the importance to health of understanding the specifics of their drinking water, necessary for appropriate corrective action. Their response, by filling out a form anticipating specific tests, was overwhelming and encouraging.

Test results will be sent to the individuals and only an aggregate report will come to the RCC. Just because you have been drinking your water for years without noticing ill effects, is no guarantee that there are no long-term impacts to health that are preventable with proper water treatment. So we encourage everyone with a well in Rindge to take advantage of this opportunity by filling out and returning this Water Test Choice form to the Conservation Commission. They are available at the Town Office and on the town website, along with a DES description of testing types and costs.

Details of collection dates will be forthcoming pending tabulation of these returned forms. More extensive information is available on the N.H. Department of Environmental Servicesย website โ€“ย look in the A-Z List for private well testing โ€“ย for anyone in any town. Well water testing is important for all of us.
