More than 70 people stopped by the Mansfield Public Library in Temple on Saturday to have cookies with the Grinch.
The reference room was transformed into Whoville for the day with Grinch-themed decorations and giveaways.
This was the first year the library sponsored a holiday event featuring the Dr. Seuss character, and Library Director Elizabeth Crooker was pleased with the turnout.
“We had no idea what to expect, as this was our first year holding this type of event,” Crooker said. “We were thrilled to see so many families from all around the area taking part.”
Some families posed for photos with the Grinch, but some more-hesitant youngsters were happy to just share a cookie and watch the animated movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” with the star of the film.
