MacDowell Downtown will feature animation filmmaker and visual artist Danski Tang for “Slicing Time, ” exploring the surreal, sensory worlds of her work, on Friday, Nov. 7. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture, 19 Grove St., and is free and open to the public.

Tangโ€™s hand-drawn animations weave personal narrative, surreal imagery and evocative soundscapes into intimate experiences. Using varied animation techniques, she creates worlds that emerge from the subconscious, exploring themes of cultural indoctrination and body autonomy.

Her presentation will include a selection of paintings, drawings, two short films and a music video, followed by a Q&A. Tang will also share insights on the evolution of her creative process.

Originally from China and now based in Los Angeles, Tang earned her MFA in experimental animation from the California Institute of the Arts.

The MacDowell Downtown series brings MacDowell artists together with the Monadnock community through monthly presentations of new and in-progress works.
