The town of Rindge has filled one open position and will now look to fill another.
Wednesday’s Select Board meeting featured two personnel announcements: Library Trustee Karla MacLeod announced that Donna Straitiff has been named the next library director of the Ingalls Memorial Library and Tim Goodwin formally announced his departure as Rindge Recreation Director.
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve this community,” said Goodwin, whose last day will be Nov. 5.
Goodwin told the board he had a few succession plans that he would like to discuss in a non-public session. Goodwin told the town in August that he would be leaving at some point, as his wife found a new job in Wolfeboro.
Straitiff, who previously worked at the Keene Public Library, will begin working on Oct. 24 for the library. Departing library director Diane Gardenour will stay until Nov. 12, allowing for a few weeks of training and overlap, something that had been planned for in the library’s yearly budget.
The board once again discussed a proposed sick leave donation policy, which was tabled after a revision was suggested.
Currently, the policy says that a donor’s request is to be made anonymously, but there was no specific language to protect the person being donated to. Town Administrator Joe Byk said he would revise the contract to include language to protect the donee and bring it back to the board in two weeks.
The board also approved for the Conservation Commission to work with the town forester to selectively cut some trees on town owned properties on Rand Road and Lord Hill Road and a proposed schedule for the upcoming budget season.
