ConVal, Conant and Mascenic will all have spots in the upcoming NHIAA soccer tournaments starting this week, while both Wilton-Lyndeborough teams missed the playoffs.
The ConVal boys’ soccer team finished at 13-3, and while their late loss to Bow knocked them out of the No. 1 spot in Division II, their season-ending 1-0 win at Pembroke ensured the Cougars still landed in third place and secured a first-round bye.
ConVal awaits the winner of No. 6 Coe-Brown-Northwood and No. 11 Milford for a quarterfinal game in Peterborough Sunday.
No. 1 Kingswood (13-2-1) is at the top of the bracket; No. 7 Bow (11-5) and No. 2 Oyster River (12-2-2), who both beat ConVal in the regular season, are possible semifinal opponents for the Cougars.
The ConVal girls finished outside of the playoffs after dropping four straight games to end the season, most recently falling to Pembroke 2-0 on Thursday.
In Division III, the Conant boys finished at 12-3-1 and locked up the No. 5 seed with a 2-1 win at Stevens on Thursday. The Orioles host No. 12 Inter-Lakes (7-8-1) Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The Conant girls also found their way to the playoffs, albeit with reversed fortunes, as their 8-8 record gave them the 12-seed and a road playoff game at No. 5 Bishop Brady (10-5-1) Tuesday at 3 p.m. Conant lost to Brady 6-1 at the end of September.
In Division IV, Mascenic’s boys’ soccer team snagged the fifth seed after playing four games in the last week of the season and winning three, most recently a 1-0 win at WLC and a 3-2 overtime win at Somersworth. The Vikings (13-3) host No. 12 Lin-Wood (6-9) Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The WLC loss left the Warriors at 5-11, one spot out of the final playoff berth in Division IV.
The WLC girls also finished outside the playoffs at 3-12 after a season-ending 3-1 loss at Portsmouth Christian Thursday, despite the best efforts of midfielder Bri Fish, who scored an “olympico” goal directly off a corner kick to put the Warriors up early.
