The town of Rindge is looking for a “proven team builder” for its next town administrator.
The Select Board agreed to post a job description and application on the town’s website, officially kicking off the search for Jane Pitt’s replacement.
The job description was brought to the board as a potential job advertisement, but the board deemed it too long.
“This is great, but it is too long for the website,” said board chair Robert Hamilton. “I think we need to cut a lot of this out if we are going to publish an advertisement in the newspaper.”
The town is looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree in management, public administration, or a related field and/or five years of experience in municipal administration.
The job is posted as a part-time job, with the potential for full-time work in the future.
The Select Board and search committee are still working on an online and newspaper advertisement. Eicher said he would take all of the board’s advice to the next committee meeting.
The board decided that a proper advertisement could be made by combining a few of the sentences from the job description, including what the town wants for experience, and that the job is part-time with the possibility for full-time.
Eicher said the committee was hoping to advertise through as many as seven newspapers, but the board approved four: the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, the Keene Sentinel, the Union Leader, and the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
Maryann Harper, a member of the committee, said she felt the town should try to advertise heavily up front.
“We are looking at quite an ambitious timeline of six weeks [to hire a town administrator,]” said Harper. “We are saving money by having a volunteer committee do the search. I would hate to have to re-advertise because we didn’t do a big enough search in the beginning.”
The board also discussed advertising on a few online websites, to increase circulation.
