Monadnock Center for History and Culture will hold a Community Conversations program on leadership for the future tonight at 7 at Bass Hall.
The panel for this conversation features Brian Pickering, Principal of ConVal High School; Peri Chickering, a leadership consultant and coach; and Karen Hatcher, a former national director of Students in Action. Each panelist will make short presentation to share their perspective on what it takes to be a leader, how that is changing, and what skills and experiences will prepare a new generation to be leaders in the future.
Brian Pickering has been involved in New Hampshire education for more than 25 years. During this time, he has been a teacher, a coach, head of the athletic department, assistant principal, and principal. Since taking on the leadership at ConVal Regional High School in 2010, ConVal High School has twice been considered as a candidate for the NH Excellence in Education Award. In 2016, Mr. Pickering received the Principal of the Year Award, conferred by the New Hampshire Association of School Principals.
Peri Chickering has a diverse range of skills and experience, including executive leadership, coaching, teaching, training and program development, and administration. As a director and senior consultant for Dialogos, a management and leadership development firm, she has worked with a diverse range of clients in both the government and private sector including British Petroleum, World Bank, and the U.S. Forest Service.
Karen Hatcher is a former National Director for Students In Action, a youth training program that effectively uses service to the community as a vehicle for developing students leaders aged 12 to 18.
