A Peterborough woman who totaled her vehicle after she swerved in an attempt to avoid contact with a deer Tuesday morning walked away from the accident unscathed.

June Winey, 53, was traveling northbound on Middle Road near the intersection of Tannery Hill Road when her 2001 Nissan Xterra struck a pole. The vehicle continued into a stone wall where it rolled over two times before eventually coming to a rest on its side, facing perpendicular to the road.

Hancock police responded to the accident at 10:12 a.m.

The Hancock Fire and Rescue and Peterborough Ambulance also responded to the scene. First responders checked Winey, who said she was uninjured. She declinedย medical attention.

The vehicle is believed to be totaled and was towed from the scene.

Police said the crash shut down the road for about 45 minutes.
