Children got the opportunity to meet with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and get their photos taken for Christmas cards, during a fundraiser put on by the New Ipswich Firefighters’ Association on Saturday.

Chief Meredith Lund said the annual tradition isn’t a big moneymaker for the association, but has become an opportunity for the community to see the fire house, meet their firefighters and to provide a service to the community.

The funds raised Saturday – about $600 – will be added to the association’s current fundraising campaign to purchase new hydraulic extraction tools for the department. The funds will be added to about $7,000 in community donations already raised through a letter campaign. The total goal to purchase the tools is $30,000.

To donate to the New Ipswich Firefighters’ Association, contact the association’s Facebook page or Chief Meredith Lund at 603-562-4441. Donations can also be sent to the New Ipswich Town Office, with checks made out to the New Ipswich Firefighters’ Association. The association is a nonprofit entity.
