Expanding access to health care

To the editor: During the last legislative session our State Senate had a chance to expand access to healthcare to 48,706 Granite Staters, protect hospitals like Monadnock Community Hospital from financial ruin by uncompensated care, and protect women from harassment when accessing care at facilities which also provide reproductive healthcare services. Thankfully, a majority of State Senators thought that these were worthy goals.

But not Senator Andy Sanborn. Senator Sanborn voted against โ€“ and actually worked hard to defeat โ€“ the New Hampshire Health Protection Plan which doubled the number of people our state can treat for heroin and other substance addictions, expanded access to healthcare to 48,706 hardworking Granite Staters, and provided the funds necessary to keep rural hospitals like our own Monadnock Community Hospital, solvent. He also voted against protecting women from harassment if they accessed healthcare at facilities which also provide reproductive healthcare services when he voted for HB-1570. Elections are about choices, and on November 8th Iโ€™m choosing to cast my ballot for Lee Nyquist. Lee is someone we can trust to fight for our ability to access healthcare, keep hospitals like Monadnock Community Hospital open, take a commonsense bipartisan approach to addressing our heroin and substance abuse crisis, and keep harassment out of healthcare. Andy Sanbornโ€™s record shows he isnโ€™t.
