Thank you for the excellent coverage you have given the Dublin Community Center in recent weeks by reporter Ashley Saari. Regarding our new “Neighbor to Neighbor” Zoom chat that will premiere tonight (Dec. 9), I’d like to clarify a few things.
As program coordinator, I proposed the idea for this chat because a lot of people have moved into the area in recent years and I’ve noticed them asking the typical newcomer questions on sites such as Nextdoor and Facebook. I thought it would be a friendly thing to attach voices and faces (without masks) to those Dublin neighbors asking and answering the questions. I see this program as a neighborly virtual visit between two longtime residents and two newcomers, while the rest of us listen in. My role is to be a host, and to field questions from those who tune in.
There is a common misperception that Dublin Community Center is connected with Dublin Community Church. While we are next door and often share resources, people and parking spaces, our programming has always been independent of the church. This new “Neighbor to Neighbor” chat was not inspired by a previous event at the church.
As organizer and host of this new monthly program (at least for the upcoming colder months), I encourage those interested in participating or attending to email me directly at info@dublincommunitycenter.org. The long URL provided on Tuesday (“A chance to meet the neighbors”) might be difficult to type and searching for our new website without the prefix (https://) still brings some people to our old dormant site.
Thanks again for your fine coverage. Keep it up!
