The Avenue A Teen Center is in need of volunteers.

Avenue A provides a safe, supervised place for teens to hang out, socialize,

and learn new skills. Volunteers can help enrich the lives of young people in our region.

There are several ways community members can help out. Avenue A needs volunteers to help teens in the community learn new skills or develop their existing interests. Anyone who is willing to teach young people about a skill or interest that they have is invited to contact the center. The format is flexible โ€” volunteers could lead a half-day workshop, two hour sessions, or develop an ongoing or short-term club.

Avenue A can provide volunteers to help supervise these activities and promotional materials to spread the word. Examples of skills could be music, foreign language, arts, crafts, sports, cooking. There are many possibilities.

Volunteers also are needed to help chaperone the Friday night open hours from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

During this time, teens ages 13 to 18 are welcomeย to use Ave Aโ€™s free Wi-Fi, computers, play pool, ping pong, foosball, movies, games, and more.

Open hours give teens a safe place to hang out on the weekends. Volunteering just one night a month can make a huge difference.

The center would like to expand hours to include after school, Saturday or Sunday times. Anyone who might be available to chaperone during these times will be appreciated.
