Antrim Police Department Sgt. Brian Lord has been promoted to the position of lieutenant.
During Wednesday’s Select Board meeting, Lord’s daughter, Logan Lord, pinned him with his lieutenant’s badge.
The department did not have a lieutenant prior to Lord’s promotion.
Lord has been with the Antrim department since 2008, and prior to that worked for the Nelson Police Department part-time for a year. Before becoming a police officer, Lord worked as a truck driver and doing tree work, but said he reached a point in his life where he wanted a new career.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” Lord said, of police work. “I figured I’d give it one shot, and so far, it’s been an excellent choice of career.”
Lord, who lives in Deering, said he enjoys the small-town atmosphere of Antrim.
“What I like most about it is the community aspect. I like helping people, and Antrim is full of great people,” he said. “It’s a strong community with strong ties and a great history.”
As the department’s lieutenant, Lord said his administrative duties will increase, though with small departments, all officers share the responsibility for responding to calls and patrols.
Lord has three children, and said the support of his family and girlfriend Lisa Cahill have been instrumental to him. When not on the job, he enjoys fishing and golfing.
