Who are they? Those folks

So who are they, these hundreds of people lining the streets with flags and signs and concern on their faces? They are doctors and lawyers, moms and dads. Grandmothers and aunts. Teachers and factory workers. They are your neighbors and friends. Scout leaders and trash collectors. They are rich and poor. These people are in love with the idea of this great nation. “…bring us your huddled masses – yearning to be free…” Why are they out there? They are all trying to showcase the calamity the fear mongers have wrought on our nation.

What calamity, you may ask? The answer spans from Citizens (should read Corporate) United to the destruction of trust in our elections. Calling vaccinations the cause of everything from autism to gout…science? Selling access to one of the greatest gifts one generation can give to another – our National Parks. Ignoring climate science and defunding scientific research. Giving a fake wrestling magnate the keys to dismantling education.

The layers of corruption run so deep with the GOP, supporting them again and again is clearly showing your support of theft and graft and environmental catastrophe. Removing funding (tax credits) from alternative energy projects…? The list is extensive and horrific. The damage caused will take decades to recover from.
The question I have is: Is your commitment to a party a result of a lot of research or loyalty to an idea? An idea of fiscal conservatism and law and order. If that is your stand, it comes at the price of those yet born and those who are struggling. Struggles magnified by a GOP-led government doing what it can to just take, take, take.
