A 10-hour standoff ended Sunday morning when police arrested a Jaffrey man who barricaded himself inside a Hancock home following a multi-town police chase.
Police took Andrew Waycotte, 40, of Jaffrey, into custody around 6:45 a.m. on Sunday. His arraingment was scheduled for midday Monday.
As Dublin Master Patrolman Brandon Blair pursued him, Waycotte drove from Dublin to Hancock in a high-speed chase on Saturday at around 8:35 p.m. Eventually, Waycotte barricaded himself in a home at 8 Old Hancock Road after allegedly disregarding verbal instructions from the officer to surrender, authorities said.
The Peterborough Police Department took over the scene and contained the area. The department made contact with Waycotte with the help of the Keene Police Tactical Team and resolved the conflict peacefully, police said.
Waycotte faces two felony charges, including a Class B felony for reckless conduct for failing to stop for police during the pursuit, exceeding 100 miles per hour and driving on the wrong side of the road on Main Street in Dublin, according to court documents. He’s also charged with a Class A felony for knowingly entering and barricading himself in a Hancock residence with the goal of resisting arrest.
Additionally, prosecutors charged Waycotte with multiple misdemeanors, including resisting arrest, criminal trespass and driving with a suspended driver’s license. He’s also accused of disobeying an officer and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
Waycotte has been detained without bail to ensure his appearance in court and to protect the safety of the community, and if released, he’s prohibited from possessing firearms or weapons and must refrain from excessive use of alcohol and controlled substances, according to court documents.
