Many local athletes are taking to the fields and courts this fall for their respective colleges, and we’ve compiled a list to follow as their seasons progress.
Zoey Lazzaro of Peterborough is a sophomore at Norwich University, where she plays forward for the Cadets women’s soccer team. Last season, Lazzaro appeared in 16 games, scoring twice. The Cadets are 1-0 on the season so far.
Kelsey Crouse of Lyndeborough is a junior at Norwich University, where she plays forward/defense for the Cadets women’s soccer team. Norwich won their opener over VSU-Johnson on Tuesday.
Clara Wilsher of Francestown is a freshman at Smith College, where she plays midfield for the Bears women’s soccer team. Smith tied UMass-Boston in the season opener and plays at Cortland Saturday.
Zach Burgess of Peterborough is a senior at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he plays goalkeeper for the Barons men’s soccer team. The Barons lost their season opener to Wittenberg and host Messiah Saturday.
Mikey Gonzalez of Peterborough is a freshman at Norwich University, where he plays fullback for the Cadets’ football team. The Cadets open up Friday against St. Lawrence.
Bishop Benham of Peterborough is a freshman at the University of New Hampshire, where he plays offensive line for the Wildcats football team. The Wildcats lost their opener to UAlbany, 28-14, and play at Syracuse on Saturday.
Emma Schaumloffel of New Ipswich is a junior at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where she runs for the Leopards women’s cross-country team. Wentworth opens their season at Suffolk on Saturday.
Ivy Armstrong-McEvoy of Peterborough is a freshman at Franklin Pierce University, where she plays middle back for the Ravens women’s volleyball team. FPU is 1-3 this year and heading to Southern Connecticut State for a tri-match Saturday.
Ashlynn Williams of Greenfield is a freshman at NHTI, where she plays outside and middle hitter for the Lynx women’s volleyball team.
Sophia Spingola of Jaffrey is a freshman at Colby-Sawyer College, where she plays midfield for the Chargers field hockey team. The Chargers won their season opener 3-2 over Wellesley and take on Worcester State Saturday.
Emily Battisti of Jaffrey is a sophomore at Thomas College, where she plays midfield for the Terriers field hockey team. Battisti started the first game of the season for Thomas, a 7-1 loss to Shenandoah.
Kaelyn Samuelson of Francestown is a freshman at Western New England University, where she plays forward for the Golden Bears’ field hockey team. WNEU beat Smith 2-1 in their season opener and plays WPI Saturday.
Braeden Dion of Jaffrey is a freshman at Keene State College, where he plays on the Owls’ men’s golf team. The Owls open their season at the New England College Invitational on Saturday.
Amelia Hill of Jaffrey is a freshman at the University of Maine-Farmington, where she runs for the Beavers women’s cross-country team. UMF is at the NCAA East Regional Preview meet on Saturday to start its season.
