The Edge Ensemble Theatre Company will open John Patrick Shanley’s drama “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” on Friday, Aug. 21, at The Edge Theater as the third production of its 2026 season.
Directed by Kim Dupuis, the play follows two troubled individuals who meet in a Bronx bar: Danny, played by Noah Carmel, a violent man shunned by his peers, and Roberta, played by Grace Johnson, a deeply wounded woman distrustful of men. Their intense encounter sets the stage for a story about guilt, distrust, and the possibility of redemption.
Performances are scheduled for Aug. 21–22 and Aug. 27–29 at 7:30 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees on Aug. 23 and Aug. 30. The production takes place at the company’s venue, located at 310 Marlboro St., Suite 112, in Keene.
First premiered in 1983, Shanley’s Obie Award-winning play gained renewed attention following a high-profile Off-Broadway revival in 2023 starring Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott.
