Author and river guide Phil Gargan shared stories and photographs from nearly two decades of leading canoe expeditions on Zimbabweโ€™s Zambezi River during a presentation Sunday afternoon at the Mariposa Museum.

The program, โ€œZambezi Memories: Stories From Canoeing One of the Wildest Rivers,โ€ drew attendees interested in Garganโ€™s experiences navigating one of Africaโ€™s best-known waterways. His talk was based on his book of recollections from the river and highlighted encounters with wildlife, local communities and travelers who joined his expeditions.

Following the presentation, guests sampled South African finger foods prepared by local South Africans.

The event was held at the Mariposa Museum on Main Street. A suggested donation benefited the museumโ€™s programming.
