Franklin Pierce Athletics Weekly Roundup โ€“ April 13

RINDGE, N.H. – Hereโ€™s a look at top performers and key storylines from Franklin Pierce University Athletics over the past week.  

Womenโ€™s Rowing

The Franklin Pierce womenโ€™s rowing team competed at the Knecht Cup Regatta over the weekend at Cooper River Park in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The duo of Z Abdelnur (Augusta, Ga.) and Alexis Massey (Old Saybrook, Conn.) highlighted the weekend for the Ravens by winning the petite final in the Womenโ€™s Collegiate 2x with a time of 10:10.93. The first-place petite finish earned the Ravens seventh overall in a deep and competitive field.  

Franklin Pierce now shifts focus to a dual regatta next weekend against Assumption University. 

No. 21ย Softball

The nationally ranked Ravens split their four-game NE10 weekend series against Pace University at home. The weekend opened on Saturday with Franklin Pierce rebounding in Game 2 behind a shutout from Georgia Clough (Barriere, B.C.) and key offense from Alicia Ott (Stockton, Calif.), Delaney Duford (Concord, N.H.), andย Charlitย Hartenstein (Massapequa, N.Y.).ย 

On Sunday, the Ravens answered back in the series finale with an 11โ€“3 run-rule victory. Franklin Pierce exploded for a seven-run third inning to break the game open. Duford (Concord, N.H.) launched a home run, while Clough (Barriere, B.C.) and Savannah Arreguin (Los Angeles, Calif.) each drove in runs during the surge. Kennedy Morris (Stafford, Conn.) earned the win in the circle, working all five innings in the shortened contest. The Ravens finished the weekend 2โ€“2 andย continuedย conference play on the road Wednesday.ย ย 

Track andย Field

The Franklin Pierce track and field teams delivered standout performances at the SNHU Ed Daniels Classic hosted by Southern New Hampshire University. Connor Wilcox (Colchester, Conn.) claimed victory in the 5,000 meters, while Sam Fortin (Hebron, Conn.) captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase. On the womenโ€™s side, Lizzy Jones (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) won the pole vault and Issys Price (Brockton, Mass.) sprinted to a personal-best performance in the 100 meters.  

Tennis

Both tennis programs had competitive NE10 matchups. The womenโ€™s team edged out Saint Michaelโ€™s College with a 4โ€“3 win behind strong doubles performances and singles wins from Ainhoa Ordoรฑez, Candela Tortosa and Ana Muรฑoz. The menโ€™s team earned a 5โ€“2 road victory over Bentley University, sweeping doubles and securing four singles victories to clinch the match. 

Both teams play at home against SNHU, Saturday.
